Nagarjuna as the City Of Victory

Nestled between Guntur and Hyderabad the historic plinth of Nagarjuna
which was once ruled by Satvahanas is renowned as the city of Victory. Its narrative accounts are very much defining because it talks about its evolution and transition which in turn would give an opportunity to its traveler to understand its charisma.

Historical Facts
As mentioned above this small settlement during the time of dynastic rule was ruled by the core of Satvahanas before it was invaded by the Ikshvaku rulers. Its historic excavation have clearly supported the fact that the rulers during that phase developed basic infrastructure of this place and maintained its entire boundary to peruse their colonial interest.

Overview of Nagarjuna
Although it’s historic accounts are worth understanding but at present this small town is renowned for its Nagarjuna-Sagar dam which is renowned as world’s tallest masonry dam. Its significance lies in its hydro electric project which was undertaken by government during 1969 to meet the basic requirement of the local people.

The project was initiated during the administrative line of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and it took approximately 14 years to complete the project.
 Nestled within the River Krishna the project was renowned as Nandikonda project during the time of its induction but later it was renamed as Nagarjuna-Sagar after Nandikonda town was reallocated to the erstwhile northern part of Vijayapuri.

Travelers from across the world comes here to witness the engineering brilliance of this project and since it is a world’s tallest masonry dam it gives more definite reason for traveler to witness this landmark. By train- The nearest Railway Station to Nagarjuna is Macherla railway station which is located at a distance of around 24 km from here and this railway station are very well connected with all the major railway station of the nearby states.

By road- traveler will get ample of bus services from nearby cities like Devarakonda, Nalgonda, Kodad and many more.
