. An ancient village positioned 95 km away from Jaipur in Dausa district of Rajasthan, Abhaneri was founded by King Raja Chand of Gurjar kingdom in the 9th century AD. Harshat Mata temple is a 10th
century temple which is exquisitely designed, though the temple is in ruins,
the beautiful workmanship is still reflected through its rich craftsmanship.
The architectural masterpiece is sure to take you to the glory of the past era.
The leftovers of this magnificent temple symbolizes that it was devoted to Lord
Vishnu.
Another attraction, Chand Baori which
was actually created for rainwater harvesting is placed in front of the Harshat
Mata temple. The huge step well measures a depth of 20 meters with 13 levels
along with defenses on all sides due to which it is regarded as one of the
largest and deepest step wells of India. It was constructed by King Chandra
(Chanda) of Nikhumba dynasty who ruled the ancient village of Abhaneri during 8th
century AD to 9th century AD. The well is now maintained and
controlled by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Structures and delicate
craftsmanship which are built on the interior and exterior part of the step
well are visual treat for your eyes.
Being at a close proximity to the
pink city of Jaipur, large number of tourists visits this village as an
excursion from the city. On your way from Jaipur to this village, you are
likely to see some of the majestic monuments and constructions with a backdrop
of mountain ranges which are sure to quench your thirst of witnessing the
engineering marbles and the best examples of human intelligence from a close
distance.

to March is the best time to visit this place with pleasurable and delightful
climatic conditions.

about 95 km is the closest airport.
By Train: Dausa Railway Station at
about 31 km is the closest railhead.
By Road: Abhaneri is well linked by
National Highway 11 on the Jaipur Agra road. One can easily avail a taxi or get
on a bus from the airport and railway station to reach this place.
